Thanks again, Johnny Fay! This one's a previously uncirculated show from Irving Plaza in NYC, on June 1st 1996... just 3 days after the popular 9:30 Club show in Washington, DC. Fans of that set will surely enjoy this one, too (the second of a 2-night engagement at this venue). There's a certain laid back, yet powerful feel to this Henhouse show. In particular, Paul's background vocals really shine on this recording, with a nice reverb effect that puts a special touch on the songs he contributes to. Way to go, Paul! Making a semi-rare appearance on this uncut 21-song set are Butts Wigglin, the under-loved Coconut Cream, and another great version of The Apartment Song. Also of note, the jams in NOIS and 100th Meridian are filled with teasers including Escape Is At Hand, Poets, Chagrin Falls, and even Freaked makes an appearance. Last but not least is the excellent two-punch combo of Hiccups into Daredevil. Hiccups had really evolved and grown into a song of its own at this point in time. It's a real treat to hear it like this. Enjoy the show! - Mike'n'Cheese Tracklist: 01 Gift Shop 02 Grace, Too 03 We'll Go, Too 04 Springtime in Vienna 05 The Inevitability of Death 06 700 Ft.
