Microphones: CSB? Recording Device: Sony D7 or D8 Source:DAT M->ANA1 ->Sony DTC60ES w/SBM ON->toslink->M-Audio CO3->THX coax ->Teac CD burner->CD-> WAV(via Itunes)->FLAC->You Recorded By: Can't remember, its been a long time Transfered By: Steve Stroud (dreyfuss/silentbob) ****************************************************************************** Details: The Tragically Hip, live @ Molson Park Aug 2nd, 1997. This was the final night on the ARA 97 tour, this was also my 1st hip show so it holds a special place in my heart. I had requested this show to be torrented a few weeks ago and there was no response so I'm guessing that no one has it or that no one has the time to do it so I've transfered it now from my 1st generation tapes of the show. I recieved this show through a tape tree done shortly after the show. The tape tree was done through "the tragically hip newsgroup", which at one time was a great place... The show was recorded in front of the board with Core Sound Binaural's (I think, can't find any info on this anywhere) and onto DAT via a Sony deck, either a D7 or D8, its been a while so I'm a bit scetchy on the details. I too tried to record this show but had my tape deck set to FM so I recorded 2hrs of static from the radio instead of this show, I was quite happy to find out someone else had taped the show, and with much better gear than mine at the time. 4 songs were also broadcast on the radio and I've included them here as well. The Hip brought out some guests throughout the night as well, people from the Los Lobos, Wilco and Ashley McIssac. The band played a few "new" songs at this show before Phantom Power came out. To my knowledge this show has never been torrented, I think its available in MP3 on 100th Meridian but here is a fresh lossless transfer. The only way this would be a better transfer is if someone has the DAT master or a digital clone. The info file has lots of info that most people don't need, the basic breakdown is DATM->ANA1->CD->Flac. The rest of the info is how I got it from tape to CD. I ran my NAD tape deck through my Sony DAT deck with Sony Bit Maping turned "ON" this helps make the transfer from analogue to digital a much cleaner, nicer transfer. I'm sure there is more info on the web to explain why it helps but I'm not going into it here. From the DAT deck it goes into a SCMS stripper (not required for this transfer but doesn't hurt it either) and then into my Teac Cd burner. With all this being said, the recording is a bit on the bassy side of things, still a nice recording though. Enough tech mumbo jumbo, lets get on with the show! Disc 1: aprox 72min 01 - Springtime in Vienna 02 - Save the Planet* 03 - Grace Too 04 - Greasy Jungle 05 - Ahead By A Century 06 - So Hard Done By (with Victor & Steve from the Los Lobos) 07 - 700ft Ceiling 08 - Vapour Trails* 09 - NOIS (Poets rant) 10 - Flamenco (Poets rant) 11 - Don't Wake Daddy 12 - Fully Completely 13 - Membership* (with Bob from Wilco) Disc 2: aprox 60min 01 - Fire in the Hole 02 - Wheat Kings (with Ashley McIssac) 03 - Gift Shop 04 - Bobcaygeon* 05 - Nautical Disaster 06 - Little Bones * = songs that were at this time new and unreleased, but they had been performed at (all?) the ARA tour stops as well as the camp trillium show at the concert hall in June. These tracks are from the same show but they were broadcast on the radio so obviously the quality of the recording is going to be better. The same goes for these tracks as the ones above, basic breakdown of lineage is: ANAM->ANA1->CD->Flac. These songs were broadcast on "Roadside Radio" Full FM Source info: SBD->FM->ANAM->ANA1->Sony DTC60ES w/SBM ON->toslink-> M-Audio CO3->THX coax ->Teac CD burner->CD->WAV(via Itunes)->FLAC->You 07 - NOIS (cuts in, sorry thats how it is on my coppy) 08 - Wheat Kings 09 - Gift Shop 10 - Little Bones Enjoy! Note: I do the transfer to CD on a standalone CD burner so I add the tracks manually while its recording, this sometimes, due to my error, causes the tracks to start a few seconds late, if you don't like it you can fix it. 1st torrented: January 16, 2006 *******DO NOT SELL!!! Convert these files to MP3 if you must for your own listening needs but please don't distribute them in a lossless format without asking.********
