The Tragically Hip May 20th, 1999 Riverfront Park Nashville, Tennessee Source: Unknown Mics set up just to the right of the Soundboard. Unbelievable Sound Quality Transfer: Audio CD > EAC > FLAC > YOU Show Notes by Hipman332001: It is my pleasure to torrent this special show. This one will always hold a special place for me. I think it is one of the top "short shows" ever. The setting for this show was extremely unique. The stage was very high up on a barge on the Cumberland River in Downtown Nashville. It was a free show on the Thursday nite concert series, "Dancin' In The Streets". It is my belief that this show may have inspired "It Can't Be Nashville Every Nite". I was living in Memphis at the time and rented a 15 passenger van and brought along 14 folks to the show! 4 were Die-Hard Hip Heads, the rest were Phish and Deadheads, 3 of which were converted by Preacher Gord that very nite! Gord preached a great sermon in this short setlist for sure. The SOB's in charge wouldn't even let them come back out for the "Fire In The Hole" encore that was on the setlist. That's me who yells "Grace, Too" at the beginning. Sorry, but I was so excited to have a bunch of first-timers there with me, all good friends. After that I ran down to the "Pit", which was 35 feet below the big barge they played on. A multi-tiered grass ampitheatre stretched out beyond the front area where the dancers were. It was kind of surreal………..Gord even mentions about being "so high"………it's cuz it's probably the highest he's ever played compared to where the crowd was………it was cool in a weird way, lots of room to dance. There were about 2 to 3 thousand people there, of which about a hundred or two were truly HIP fans. The rest were there because it was the thing to do on Thursday nites, no matter who was playing. I bet many folks became fans that nite. Cindi and I chatted with Rob before the show. He had purchased a few country CD's, you can see them in his hand in the JPEG. The other JPEG's are of a couple of totally cool Canadians, a father and daughter, and of my HIP tattoo they thought was so cool. It was a great trip, 420 miles, 210 each way. What a great setlist, and the sound quality is great, because the Mics were up in the ampitheatre, equal height to the barge. I wish I knew who to thank for taping this, but I didn't get his name. Thanks!! Setlist: 1. Grace, Too 2. Fully Completely 3. Fireworks 4. Gift Shop 5. Poets 6. Courage 7. Ahead By A Century 8. Springtime In Vienna 9. Bobcaygeon 10. Nautical Disaster 11.
