A few notes about the files:
- All original notes from the original posts are included if available.
- I will link to the (zipped) MP3 and FLAC files (whichever are available).
- The downloads are zip files.
- I have linked to the hipbase or setlist.fm setlist but not all downloads contain all songs from the shows.
- Quality varies from Excellent to Poor. For the sake of a general idea I will note if it is Excellent (E), Very Good (VG+/VG/VG-), Good (G+/G/G-), Poor (P). It is a subjective assessment. Feel free to let me know if you think any gradings should be changed.
- I have not changed the titles of the individual songs from the original files.
- If you provided me with the show or if you recorded the show please let me know and I'll add your name to the List of contributors above.

1. 1985-02-27 Kingston ON Copper Penny Version 2 mp3 and flac files courtesy of Mike Graham. His remixing notes are: Original recording was left channel soundboard feed and right channel audience microphone. I extracted each channel into a multi-track timeline, Left at +61% and Right at -61%. Adjusted a few volume fluxes in first couple songs and one mid set. Added Audience Mic Recording at 50% in both Left and Right Channels to fill out the Drums and Room Sound. EQ to remove some high end and bring up the bass frequencies

Today's update:
1. 1993-07-16 Victoria BC Western Speedway first show of the first Another Roadside Attraction tour courtesy of Mike Graham. 2. 1995-10-24 Philadelphia PA Spectrum opening for Page and Plant. Original file was Good quality. This new version from Mike Graham is VG+ and the best sounding Page/Plant show to date. In flac and mp3 format.
3. 2000-06-08 London England Shepherd's Bush Empire partial show (8/20 songs) in mp3 format. Most likely soundboard file.

Today's update:
1. 1998-07-07 London Ontario Camp Trillium III Version 2 in mp3 format. This version is probably the same source as Version 1 posted but the sound is quite a bit more clear and an Excellent quality recorded show.
2. 1998-08-10 Boston MA Bill's Bar Version 2 in mp3 format. This version is better quality than Version 1 posted which has quite a bit of pops throughout. I also noticed that Version 1 is slightly sped up. I compared same songs from different shows with those from V1 and V2 and this new version is definitely the proper speed. I'm leaving up both for completist purposes.
3. 1998-08-12 Boston MA Bill's Bar Version 2 in mp3 format. This version is abour the same quality as Version 1 posted however like the 08-10 Version 1 file it is also slightly sped up. I compared same songs from different shows with those from V1 and V2 and this new version is definitely the proper speed. I'm leaving up both for completist purposes as well.
4. 1998-11-02 Athens GA 40 Watt Club Version 2 in mp3 format. This version is likley the same source files as Version 1 but it is less bass heavy and to my ears a slightly better listen.

Some archive digging and fan provisions have produced some more shows and/or flac versions. Today's additions are:
1. 1993-09-02 Kingston ON four songs from the Healthcare 2000 benefit show at Richardsons Stadium added (converted from flv files).
2. 1995-02-10 Toronto ON Air Canada Centre flac version.
3. 1995-10-28 New York NY Irving Plaza excellent quality soundboard in mp3 format courtesy of John G Mitchell.
4. 1996-07-20 Denver CO The Fox Theatre Radio broadcast 2nd version added (mp3s only) which is Excellent sounding vs Version 1 which is Good at best.
5. 1996-11-13 Edmonton AB Northlands Coliseum Excellent soundboard in mp3 format courtesy of John G Mitchell.
Also If you have a file in your collection called XXX-XX-XX Illusions of Someday 1996 I have determined that it is in fact 1996-05-29 Washington DC 9:30 Club show which is available in the 1996 section of the site.

Today's upload and clarification is dedicated to trying to clarify the two recordings from 1985 for everyone as I don't think it is clear and I've tried to sort it out. There are basically 2 recordings floating around. One is often titled XXX XX 1985 Copper Penny Restaurant and the info indicates it is a tape circulated by Davis Manning. The second is a recording on YouTube with a date of November 9 1985 also at the Copper Penny Restaurant. A few days ago I received a pristine soundboard/audio mix of a Copper Penny Restaurant show which is the same as the Nov 9 1985 YouTube recording but this recording has a date of February 27 1985. This recording's notes (and Gord mentions it in the recording) indicate that the show was being recorded in order to submit to a radio station (Q107 Homegrown Contest for indie bands). What I do not know is whether the date of the show is Feb 27 or Nov 9 1985. However, the XXX XX 1985 tape that was circulated by Davis Manning (Hip's Sax player at the time) was definitely produced after this show as some of the content on the tape is from this recording. I'm almost 100% certain that this XXX XX 1985 file is a mix of live songs that was put together to give out or provide to fans and/or clubs, as it contains some of the songs from the Nov9/Feb27 proper show. When comparing the two files it is clear that the following songs are from the proper show (I Love My Baby (Here t'is), Evelyn, Baby Blueblood, Psychedelic Ramblings of Rich Kids, Heart Attack Love, Big City, All American Surf Club (edited), Reformed Baptist Blues (Edit), and Treat Her Right). The songs from the XXX file that are not on the Feb/Nov show are Come Back Baby, These Arms Of Mine, Sweet Jane (which might be the missing song 5 from the Feb/Nov file), Have Mercy and If She's Seventeen. I'm pretty sure because of this that the XXX file is a mix of content from several shows. Further proof is that on the Feb/Nov version of All Canadian Surf Club Gord mentions something about the USA that is clearly edited out of the XXX version. Also on the Feb/Nov version of Reformed Baptist Blues after Gord introduces the song he asks "my parents out there?" which is also edited out of the XXX version though they are clearly from the same show. So While I'm not sure of the actual date of the original live show (either Feb 27 or Nov 9) I'm going to post it on the page as Feb 27 as the other file was clearly after the date of this show. If anyone can definitively confirm one or the other please let me know and I'll update if required. The other post from 1985 at this point is the XXX XX 1985 file which is the compilation of songs - clearly from more than one show, one of which is the other file noted. Hopefully that clears up these files a bit. I will leave the link to the YouTube file which I posted previously with the date November 9 1985 for context/comparison. Also note the sound on the February 27 mp3s is Way better than the XXX XX 1985 file. I'll add this info into a Note for each file as well. Darrin

And just like that the two missing 2016 shows have been provided by Scott Becker and uploaded. Vancouver #2 is flac/mp3. Edmonton #2 is just mp3s. Thanks Scott!
November 2 2024
There were 15 shows played on the Hip's last tour in 2016. I have 12 shows up, with two currently missing (Vancouver #2 July 26 and Edmonton #2 July 30). The Edmonton #2 show is unique in that it was the only show that the band performed songs from We Are The Same. I'm sure they will turn up. The Final show I'm not posting as it is available for purchase and I'm not posting any shows that are available in any format of purchase. Soundwise the shows are kind of boomy due to the size of the venues. The best sounding ones to my ears are the three Toronto shows, London and Ottawa. I personally was lucky enough to get tickets to all three Toronto shows and the Hamilton show. It was great to hear so many deep cuts for the last time. I watched the last show at Annie Williams Memorial Park in Bracebridge Ontario. Feel free to share your thoughts about the shows you saw on the tour or about the tour in general. I'm debated about which photo to use for this final tour page cause there are so many amazing pics to choose from but I decided the only one that I could really go with was the band photo at the end of the final show in Kingston which my friend David Bastedo took.
Also one more show from 2015 provided by Scott Becker - Kamloops, BC September 27 2015.
November 1 2024
Thirteen shows from the 2015 Fully and Completely tour. Due to the nature of performing the entire album every show, the variety of songs performed was much lower than other post 2000 tours with only Forty five different songs on this tour vs around 70-80. I'm expecting more of the fifty shows from this tour will surface.
October 31 2024
Sixteen shows from the Now For Plan A 2013 tour added. One show from 2014 added (only show in 2014) from Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto for the Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off festival. Last time Heaven Is A Better Place Today was performed live and first time in 301 shows (since November 3 2006). Also one more show from 2012 added courtesy of Scott Becker - this one is from Squamish, BC August 25 2012.
October 30 2024
The Hip did not perform any shows in 2010 apart from the song Fiddler's Green on January 22 2010 for the "Canada For Haiti" Telethon. Gord Downie was working on his third solo album The Grand Bounce which was released June 8 2010. They didn't reconvene live until June of 2011 and only did about 14 shows that year as they were working on recording the Now For Plan A album. I've uploaded three shows from 2011 which are all very good sounding recordings.
In addition I've also uploaded nine shows from 2012 (I have no doubt more of the 34 shows from that year will turn up). Now For Plan A was released On October 2nd 2012 and toured on and off through most of 2013.
October 29 2024
Forty-Four shows added from the 2009 We Are The Same Tour. Almost all of them are VG quality probably due to the fact that they played mostly smaller rooms for multiple nights lending to better taping environments (vs the booming arenas). Lots of nice little gems thrown in for the mini acoustic sets they used to start their second sets. This was their second "An Evening With" type tour - the first being the Music At Work tour in 2000. Of particular note is the Abbotsford BC show from August 8th which is amazing sounding and provided by Mike Aucoin. Also another shout out to Scott Becker for providing three of these shows - Toronto May 12th, Chicago May 27th (Radio Interview/Performance) and Penticton, BC August 7th.
October 28 2024
Upgraded Kelowna BC show from July 10 2007 and Radio broadcast/interview from Seattle, WA on March 29 2007 both provided by Scott Becker. Five shows from 2008 added including Belleville also courtesy of Scott.
October 27 2024
Happy 56th birthday to me. Today's upload is 59 shows from the World Container tour in 2007. Most are very good quality and almost all feature the band playing a cover song which as far as I'm aware was only played a single time each on the tour and in some cases related to a band from the city they were performing in.
October 25 2024
Uploaded four mp3/flac updates for George, WA May 27 2006, and Toronto October 15 and 22 2006, and December 13 2006 courtesy of Scott Becker. At the request of several people I've also added a reference to source file (TV/Radio/Audience/SBD) to each file. As well I did a run through of all shows posted to date and revised the ratings to include +/- if I felt it would help gage overall sound. Again it is pretty subjective but for the most part I've kept E for shows that are up there with professional quality releases. Very Good (VG+/VG/VG-) is a rough grading for shows that are totally enjoyable to listen but vary a bit in sound depending on clarity/echo/talking etc. Good (G+/G/G-) are probably more of a struggle to enjoy though there are some G+ shows that are worth checking out. Poor (P) files are really for completist purposes more than anything.
October 24 2024
Thirty-Six new uploads from 33 different shows from 2006 added. These shows for the most part are all VG or E quality sound. Check out the setlists as there are a lot of songs that hadn't been performed in a long time that were pulled out at these shows as well as a ton of live debuts from the World Container album which was released in October. For example they played 38 years old at the second Fort York show in Toronto on June 24 - the first time it had been played live since July 24 1993 - a span of almost 700 shows. The only show I saw in 206 was the first Fort York show...missed by that much...as Maxwell Smart would say.
October 23 2024
Only a few live performances by the band in 2005 while they worked on the World Container album - of which four are now up. Juno Awards in April, Live 8 in July (their last performance at Molson Park in Barrie Ontario), Holiday Jam at The Phoenix Concert Hall in Toronto all featured short sets. The Moncton NB show on September 3rd was an opening slot for The Rolling Stones. Of note the Phoenix show featured one of only 3 live performances of The New Maybe (the other recording of which is from Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom May 26 2006). The Phoenix upload is just the three song soundcheck but The New Maybe was one of the songs performed. A video of the full soundcheck can be found HERE. Also added the one song (It's A Good Life) performed by the band on January 13th as part of the Benefit for Asia TV fundraiser following the Japan Earthquake/Tsunami - provided by Scott Becker.

October 21 2024
Twenty-Seven shows from 2004 added from the In Between Evolution tour thus lots of live debuts. Of particular note is the Cleveland Ohio show from September 19th which featured one of only three confirmed live airings of the song Fighter Fighter. Based on posted setlists the other two shows were Washington DC September 25th and Tempe, Arizona October 4th. This is the only recording I have of the song to date. Thanks to Mike Aucoin and Scott Becker again for some of these shows.
October 21 2024
Two shows added for 2003 of which there were only five or six shows. The two I have uploaded are their sets from SARSfest June 21 at Skydome and Edgefest at Molson Park in Barrie on September 6th. This would be their first show at the venue (which is now a large outdoor mall) since ARA in 1997 and their last headlining show there. They would play one more show at the Park for Live 8 in 2005 but only performed 3 songs.
October 20 2024
Forty-Two shows from 2002 (IVL tour) including some debuts at Lee's Palace Feb 20, CBC TV Broadcast of private show for the Canadian Olympic Hockey Teams in Salt Lake City and IVL in studio broadcasts with thanks to Mike Aucoin and Scott Becker for some of the shows. Also an amazing Soundboard from Another Roadside Attraction July 15 1995 at High River Alberta added.
October 19 2024
Setlist.fm has three Tragically Hip concerts listed for 2001. One is from Tilburg, Netherlands at Poppodium 013 from November 11 which I highly doubt is correct (and likely never happened). One is a broadcast from Q107 from December 31 of which there is no known recording (and thus not sure what the nature of it was). The third one listed is the only one I'm certain happened which was their participation in Music Without Borders on October 21 2001 at The Air Canada Centre in Toronto which also featured Our Lady Peace, Choclair, Bruce Cockburn, Barenaked Ladies and Alanis Morissette. Thus only one show is available for 2001 which was also the year that Gord Downie released his first solo album Coke Machine Glow.
October 18 2024
Thirty Six shows from the Music @ Work tour in 2000 added. Sound quality varies with smaller shows typically being better sounding than the booming arenas but still some great Arena shows as well. I saw two shows in 2000 being the last show of the tour on December 23 at the Air Canada Centre and the July 1 Canada Day show in NYC Summerstage in Central Park which was in the afternoon. That night Chris Brown and Kate Fenner played at a small club in the Village and Gord was there as well.
October 17 2024
Nine shows added/updated courtesy of Mike Graham: Sudbury Feb 15 1999 new show (E sound). Grand Rapids MI September 24 1998 (VG sound). Partial upgraded Warren Vermont August 29 1998. Incomplete shows for September 25, 26 and October 10 1998 in Columbus OH, Cleveland OH and Syracuse NY. Upgraded excellent sounding shows from State College PA, Philadelphia PA and Combined Lakes WI November 17, 27 and December 11 1998.
October 15 2024
Thirty shows from 1999 added including the first show ever at Air Canada Centre in Toronto (now Scotiabank Arena) and the final show of the 20th Century also at the ACC (I was there). As well I added five Flac upgrades (NYC July 21 and 24 1998, San Francisco July 27 1998, Chicago August 8 1998 and Boston August 13 1998) and one new show NYC July 25 1998 all courtesy of Mike Graham added to the site.
October 13 2024
Forty-One shows from 1998 Phantom Power tour added including a phenomenal higher quality sounding show from Atlanta, Georgia October 31st at the Roxy Theatre courtesy of Mike Aucoin. I personally was at 5 shows from August 24-29 so nice to see three of those shows here. The missing two are Pearl Street Northampton, Mass on the 24th which is where they shot the video for Something On and Hot Tin Roof in Martha's Vinyard on the 25th which was the smallest Hip show I ever saw due to a looming Hurricane/Tropical Storm that kept people away. There were maybe 100 people there. The Hampton Beach Casino show was where Gord D gave my friend Candice Levine his famous banana shaker that had cracked. The entire band signed it as well. Another interesting tidbit from that show. If anyone recalls Gord used to play an acoustic guitar that had black duct tape on the top edge. It was at the Hampton Beach show that he tripped on stage and knocked it over and must have landed on it cause a couple songs later it reappeared with the duct tape on it and stayed there for many years after. I distinctly recall it happening at the time as well.
October 10 2024
Twelve shows from 1997 added including 5 Another Roadside Attraction shows, the surprise Toronto Concert Hall show on June 9 1997 and a bunch from Belgium/Netherlands.
October 9 2024
Thirty-Four shows from 1996 added including Edenfest (not great sound though), Buzzard Festival and several HORDEfest shows. As well two amazing sounding upgrades provided by Mike Aucoin - they are The Town Pump, Vancouver, BC March 1 1991 and the Ottawa New Years Eve show December 31 1991 at Congress Hall. I also added 4 shows courtesy of Mike Graham being San Francisco May 1 1991 (new), Horizontal Booge Bar Rochester NY August 4 1994 (flac/upgrade), Fort Erie June 29 1990 (new) and a pristine upgraded version of the Kumbaya Festival set September 5 1993. He also provide a few of the 1996 shows. Also a Very Good sounding show from Asheville North Carolina from September 9 and one from Pittsburgh June 13th, both courtesy of Scott Becker.
October 8 2024
Seven shows from 1994 added.
Twenty Six shows from 1995 added including Saturday Night Live, two Another Roadside Attraction shows, and six opening for Page and Plant.
October 7 2024
Eight shows from 1992 added.
Fourteen shows from 1993 added. The one listed as XX XX 1993 is a radio broadcast In Concert by AT&T hosted by Doug Podell. The intro says it is from The Roxy in Los Angeles but I can't find a reference to this show anywhere online so perhaps it is an error. Either way it is a great show and also half of the file is part of the Midnight Oil live show from Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine California October 2 1993.
October 6 2024
Seven shows from 1990 added. Two versions of Montreal 1990-04-11.
Eighteen shows from 1991 added. Note that the show often circulated as March 8 1991 from Tuscon Arizona I have filed under May 8 1991 as the band played St. John's Newfoundland on March 8. It seems more likely that the correct date is May 8 due to the fact that they played Hollywood California on May 3rd and Houston, Texas on May 11th. Also the show posted as XXX XX 1991 from Burlington Vermont is only 4 songs and don't even sound like they are from the same source files/show. I'm pretty sure it is just random songs and likely not even 1991 or Burlington but without additional info I'm just posting as is.

SITE LAUNCHED!
Two shows each from 1985 and 1987 and five shows each from 1988 and 1989 added.
